GDN is pleased to announce the launch of the first of its Specialized
Services to its community members. The GDN Funding Opportunities is an
electronic newsletter published every two weeks bringing you the latest
funding opportunities for social science researchers in developing
countries.

The Newsletter includes a carefully selected list of the opportunities
compiled from the Community of Science (COS) database and other regional sources. To provide our community with distinguished timely service,
cooperation has been initiated with COS which hosts the most comprehensive<= BR> collection of funding opportunities.

Opportunities will include research grants, scholarships, subsidized
conference and workshop attendance and calls for project proposals. Your newsletter will include latest information from all the major funders such<= BR> as the Rockefeller Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the
British Council, European Union and top international universities, as well=
as information from regional sources and many more specific funders.

If you are a researcher based in a developing country and you wish to sign<= BR> up for the Funding Opportunities Newsletter, you must first create your
GDNet Researcher Profile.

All researchers can benefit from having a GDNet Researcher Profile and
becoming part of the GDN community. Through your Profile, you can sign up for GDN Specialized Services, submit documents, update your details to
reflect your professional development, update your CV and create a live
online bibliography of your work.

We have now made it a lot easier to do this. When you create your Profile,<= BR> you will be given a username and password that is unique to you, so only yo= u
will be able to make updates. Please follow the instructions given below:
1. To create a Researcher Profile on the GDNet People database, please
click on the link below:
http://www.gdnet.org/c= ommunity/join.html

2. If you are based in a developing country, you will receive
instructions on how to sign up for the Funding Opportunities newsletter. Please note, you will need to submit a recent publication to the GDNet
Document Database to trigger the free access to this service.

If you need assistance in updating your profile, please contact Catherine Fisher at c.fisher@ids.ac.uk.
